Jeff Suppan was effective in his first start for the St. Louis Cardinals, allowing just 4 hits and 1 ER in 4 innings of action during the Cardinals 4-2 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday evening. After being cut by the Milwaukee Brewers, the Cardinals signed the veteran right hander earlier this week to add depth and experience to their rotation. Suppan didn't disappoint, keeping the Mariners lineup off balance before being pulled by manager Tony LaRussa.
Albert Pujols hit his 15th homerun one night after being hit in the head by a throw, while Cody Rasmus launched his 13th longball of the season.
