Eduardo Sanchez And Shelby Miller Picked To Represent Cardinals In 2010 Futures Game

The rosters for the 2010 Futures Game were announced on Tuesday, and two Cardinals feature in the 25 man rosters—one on each team. Playing for the US team will be the Cardinals number one prospect, starting pitcher Shelby Miller. Miller is 1-3 with a 4.79 ERA in his full-season debut with the low-A Quad Cities River Bandits, of the Midwest League. He's struck out 56 batters in 41.1 innings. Miller was the Cardinals' first round selection in the 2009 draft. 

21 year-old reliever Eduardo Sanchez, recently promoted to AAA Memphis, was selected for the World team's roster. Sanchez had 11 saves with a 3.12 ERA in 26 innings with AA Springfield, striking out a batter an inning. Along with new Cardinal Fernando Salas, he's considered one of the top right-handed relievers in the Cardinals' minor league system. 

The Futures Game will be played in Anaheim on July 11, during the All-Star Break. Last year's Futures Game, played in Busch Stadium, featured Cardinals 3B Brett Wallace, who was later traded to Oakland in the Matt Holliday deal, outfielder Daryl Jones, and reliever Francisco Samuel.
