David Freese Placed On 15-Day DL; Fernando Salas Recalled

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and FSN Midwest beat writer B.J. Rains, Cardinals thi rd baseman David Freese has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, the delayed result of the sprained ankle he's dealt with all month. Felipe Lopez will likely replace him at third. To replace him on the 25-man roster the Cardinals have recalled Fernando Salas, who was optioned to Triple-A Memphis just four days ago.

Freese was hitting just .234/.290/.250 in June. Salas, the closer at Triple-A Memphis, has pitched 4 1/3 scoreless innings in two stints as a Cardinal in 2010.
