Stan Kroenke Is The New Owner Of The St. Louis Rams

Stan Kroenke, Missouri real-estate billionaire and longtime team minority owner, was approved today by NFL ownership to be the new majority owner of the St. Louis Rams. The process was considered a formality after the finance committee unanimously recommended him, but the owners represented the final hurdle in a long, complicated process that began with owner Georgia Frontiere's death in 2008.

Auto-parts magnate Shahid Khan seemed likely to purchase the team earlier this year until Kroenke entered the picture. Emerging almost immediately as the front-runner, Kroenke divested himself of his other teams—he previously owned the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche, control of which now pass to his son, Josh—and now finally solidifies an ownership situation that has been in flux for more than two years.
