Fred Jackson injury: Buffalo Bills RB suffers bad-looking knee injury vs. Rams

One half of the Buffalo Bills' running back platoon could have a knee injury after going down in the fourth quarter.

A Fred Jackson injury has Buffalo Bills fans worried after half their running back platoon took a hard hit to the knees from the St. Louis Rams. He lay motionless immediately afterward before finally walking, with assistance, off the field. That means more for C.J. Spiller in the near term, so the Bills are unlikely to feel Jackson's loss right away. But if the injury is as serious as it looks like it might be, this could force them to change the way their offense works.

Jackson had 106 carries for 423 yards and three touchdowns going into this week's game, during which the Rams have stopped him cold. He averaged 5.5 yards per carry in 2011, his most effective season; in 2009 he set a career high with 237 carries for 1062 yards. Spiller, the other half of the platoon, has seven carries for 37 yards on the afternoon; for the season he's averaging more than six yards per carry.

Fred Jackson's injury isn't altogether clear right now, but he was taken off the field on a cart, which looks bad. We'll keep this storystream updated as we know more.
