Hockey Day In America On NBC: A Statistical Look At American Participants

I was chatting with my friend Robb (@robbtuftshockey) regarding the nationalities of the guys in the featured games yesterday on NBC’s celebration of Hockey Day In America. The main national broadcast for the 11:30 game was of the San Jose Sharks at the Detroit Red Wings, but we were curious which broadcast actually had the most Americans playing in it.

Robb did some statistical analysis and crunched some numbers and wound up with this outstanding visual website of who played for who. Neither of the predominant match-ups featured a majority American players. Which would that have been? The Pittsburgh Penguins at Buffalo Sabres game.
