The 2012 Daytona 500 will be run under the lights. NASCAR announced early Monday morning that the race has been pushed back from a projected 12 p.m. CT start on Monday afternoon to 6 p.m. Monday thanks to rain that continues to hit the Daytona Beach area.

The 6 p.m. start on Monday will be by far the latest start for NASCAR's biggest race in the 53 year history of the Daytona 500, but NASCAR officials have not been able to find a suitable window of time where the skies would be clear enough to run the race.
