2012 Masters Purse: Bubba Watson Earns Over $1.4 Million For Winning Tournament

Bubba Watson missed a couple of opportunities to claim the 2012 Masters late on Sunday, but he did eventually beat Louis Oosthuizen on the second playoff hole to capture his first green jacket. The victory earned him well over $1 million, while Oosthuizen picked up $864,000. Unofficially, here is the earnings breakdown for the golfers who finished in the top 10:

Masters 2012 Recap: Watson Knocks Off Oosthuizen In Playoff

Despite the final round of the 2012 Masters missing some of the more recognizable golfers at the top of the leaderboard, the tournament managed to deliver the excitement that it always does. In the first playoff since 2009, Georgia native Bubba Watson won his first Masters, as he knocked off Louis Oosthuizen on the second sudden death playoff hole.

With the win, Watson not only won his first major title, but also earned a check worth $1,440,000. Oosthuizen, who won the 2010 Open Championship, earned $864,000 for his second place finish. For the rest of the earnings, be sure to visit the SB Nation Golf site.

Heading into the final round, Peter Hanson and Phil Mickelson sat atop the leaderboard. However, both struggled during the final round, with a triple bogey early in the round taking Mickelson out of contention. Lee Westwood made a late charge, but will look back on a couple short putts that he missed as the reason he missed out on his first major.

2012 Masters Leaderboard: Phil Mickelson And Peter Hanson Make Up Sunday's Final Group

The 2012 Masters have entered the fourth and final round with some familiar faces near the top of the leaderboard. All eyes will be on Phil Mickelson, who heads into Sunday in second place overall at -8 for the tournament after destroying the back nine at Augusta in the third round to finish with a 66. Mickelson will be joined in the final group by Peter Hanson, who is one stroke better than "Lefty" overall after shooting a 65 in the third round.

Three of the top five golfers on the leaderboard are American. While the biggest storyline entering the tournament was the resurgence of Tiger Woods, Woods is not in contention as play begins on Sunday. After shooting a 72 in the third round, Woods is tied for 38th at +3 overall going into the final round.

2012 Masters Leaderboard: Fred Couples A Surprise Leader Saturday Morning

Lee Westwood carried Thursday, but the 2012 Masters Leaderboard has a more familiar and less expected name on top—Fred Couples is tied with Jason Dufner for the lead at five under, following a second-round 67. Westwood shot a 73, pushing him into a group one back of the leaders that includes Sergio Garcia and Rory McIlroy.

As for Tiger Woods—things have been better. He's three over after shooting a 75, putting him 40 back of the leaders with the likes of Charl Schwartzel. For a constantly updated live leaderboard, click through to GOLF.com's auto-refreshing beauty and just stare at it until it blinks. Sometimes I find myself staring at it through multiple blinks, until I don't even remember what I was doing there, but don't let that stop you.

2012 Masters: TV Coverage, Live Streaming Online Will Require Multiple Screens

Your 2012 Masters tournament online streaming schedule needs to be guided by something, so why not pairings and tee times? Vijay Singh and Phil Mickelson are going at 12:45 PM CDT, if you need some sturdy, recognizable names; Rory McIlroy goes at 1:25, surprise Good Friday leader Fred Couples is off at 1:45, and some guy with a goofy name, Tiger Woods, is on at 9:45. On TV, CBS will have coverage from 2:30 PM to 6:00. Live online streaming with Masters.com... deserves its own paragraph.

Between 10:45 and 5:00 they'll be covering the Amen Corner holes live; from 11:30-6:00 they'll be streaming featured pairings, as well as live coverage of holes 15 and 16, and some live cut-away highlights. You might need multiple computers to watch all of this at once. Which—I'm not saying you shouldn't do it, to be honest.

For even more guidance, keep another computer—perhaps a tablet—tuned to the live Masters leaderboard, and another another computer chatting with the bloggers at Waggle Room. That should cover it, for now.

2012 Masters Scores And Results: Fred Couples Turns Back The Clock, Leads Masters

PGA veteran Fred Couples got in his time machine and turned the dial to 1992— when Couples won his first and only Masters— on Friday in Augusta as he shot five under par to tie with Jason Dufner for the Masters lead at -5. There's been no confirmation yet that Couples was blasting Boyz II Men as he shot his way around Augusta, but if he can hold onto the lead into Sunday, it would be one of the most improbable runs at a Masters title in the tournament's history.

Couples is tied atop the leaderboard with the aforementioned Dufner, who was last spotted on the national scene coming up short in a three-man playoff in the 2011 PGA Championship. The lead is by no means comfortable, though, as the two are only up a single shot on two of the best players in the world— Rory McIlroy and Bubba Watson— as well as Sergio Garcia.

Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods, the Masters' two favorites along with McIlroy, have had varying degrees of success in the first two rounds. Mickelson is three shots off the lead at -2, but Woods— who will enter Saturday at +3— has not been able to carry over the momentum from his win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational last week.

2012 Masters Cut Line: Watson, Olazabal Miss Cut

PGA veteran Fred Couples may be leading the 2012 Masters after two rounds at -5, but the tournament hasn't been gravy for all of its elder statesmen. Two-time champions Tom Watson and Jose Maria Olzabal both missed the cut line, which settled in at +5, with both finishing at +7 after completing their rounds on Friday. 2003 Masters winner Mike Weir missed the cut after also finishing his two rounds having shot seven over par.

Other notable players to miss the +5 cut line include 1987 Masters champion Larry Mize, 1985 and 1993 Masters winner Bernhard Langer, 2011 British Open champion Darren Clarke and 2009 U.S. Open winner Lucas Glover.

Favorite Rory McIlroy is one shot off the lead at -4, and Phil Mickelson is also well within striking distance at -2. Tiger Woods, on the other hand, sits way off the lead at three over par.

Masters 2012 Projected Cut: Tom Watson Among Those With Work To Do As 2nd Round Winds Down

As the second round of the 2012 Masters approaches its end, the cut line -- currently projected at +5 -- looms larger and larger. For golfers like Tom Watson (+6), Trevor Immelman (+6) and Kyle Stanley (+6), the pressure will begin to mount as they get closer and closer to 18. All three of those players are on the wrong side of the line with fewer than five holes left to play. Luke Donald is in the same boat at +6, but he has a little more time to make up a stroke.

Kyung-Tae Kim and Kelly Kraft both sit at five-over, which means they're safe at the moment, but since they're still on the course, their places in the third and fourth rounds are far from secure.

2012 Masters Leaderboard: Lee Westwood Tops All Golfers Through One Round

Through round one Lee Westwood, the No. 3 golfer in the world, is the leader of the 2012 Masters tournament at Augusta National, starting things 5-under par with a first-round 67 on Thursday. Peter Hanson of Sweden tied for second with Louis Oosthuizen at 4-under, with Americans Ben Crane, Jason Dufner, and Bubba Watson shooting first-round 69s to top the more patriotic side of the leader board.

Some big names were visible nearby—Jim Furyk and Vijay Singh each shot 70s, with Rory McIlroy at 71 and Tiger Woods back at 72 in a frustrating but definitely recoverable even-par first round. The second round is already underway Friday morning, with Westwood maintaining a narrow lead at even par through his first few holes. Singh birdied the third hole to move one step closer to the top early on.
