2012 MVC Baseball Championship Preview: Southern Illinois, Creighton Face Off For Regional Birth

Stay connected for news and updates

The 2012 Missouri Valley Baseball Championship is down to two teams: The Southern Illinois Salukis and the Creighton Bluejays. The two teams will fight for the conference's automatic birth into the 2012 NCAA Baseball Regionals.

The sixth seeded Salukis and the eighth seeded Bluejays both stormed through their half of the bracket undefeated, with the Salukis defeating the Wichita State Shockers, the Bradley Braves and the Missouri State Bears and the Bluejays taking down the top-seeded Indiana State Sycamores and the Illinois State Redbirds twice.

The Salukis have never won an MVC Championship, and haven't been to the Regionals since 1990. The Bluejays meanwhile are the defending MVC regular season and tournament winners, and they're looking to make their first back-to-back regionals since the 1999/200 seasons.

Game date/time: Saturday, May 25, 7:00 p.m. CT

Location: Hammons Field, Springfield, Ill.

TV: Fox Sports Midwest
