The St. Louis Cardinals completed a trade on Thursday afternoon, sending INF Tyler Greene to the Houston Astros.

According to Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the St. Louis Cardinals have traded INF Tyler Greene to the Houston Astros:

Greene, 28, had appeared in 77 games for the Cardinals in the 2012 season. He struggled at the plate, as he nearly hit a career-low on-base percentage to go with his .218/.272/.358 slash. The Astros are likely to give Greene more playing time than he received with the Cardinals.

It is unclear who the Cardinals have received in exchange (the deal is currently for cash and a player to be named later), but given that Greene passed through waivers despite his inexpensive contract, it is unlikely the Cardinals will receive much in the way of prospects.
