The San Francisco 49ers took a 7-0 lead over the St. Louis Rams in the first quarter of Sunday's tie-game rematch, but aside from Frank Gore, who got 37 yards and a touchdown on his six carries, nobody looked especially sharp on offense. Neither Sam Bradford nor Colin Kaepernick threatened to score again, leaving this game wide open in the early going.
Steven Jackson, coming off two huge games in three weeks, is off to a slow start midway through the second quarter; he's got six yards for 12 carries. Bradford, meanwhile, has found last week's hero, Chris Givens, twice already, but he's gotten just 14 yards out of the connection already; in his first drive of the second quarter he looked overly tentative despite having a surprisingly solid amount of atime on his hands, courtesy the o-line.
Colin Kaepernick has played well, but he hasn't done a lot to distinguish himself from, say, Alex Smith. And that's the way things look with the Rams and the 49ers nine minutes from halftime.
