Chris Stewart better make sure that his cell phone is charged, because he’s going to get a call from NHL disciplinarian and former Blue Brendan Shanahan. He laid a hit on Red Wing Niklas Kronwall as Kronwall was moving towards the puck against the boards. Stewart hit him, and it shoved him shoulder/head first into the boards. Luckily it wasn’t a different angle, or Kronwall could have been seriously injured. He left and went to the locker room and hasn’t returned. Chris Stewart got a five minute major and a game misconduct penalty for the hit.
The Blues killed off the ensuing power play, but are going to have to juggle lines tonight to make up for the loss of Stewart.
