The St. Louis Blues entered the second period down 2-0 to the Colorado Avalanche at the Pepsi, but two quick goals helped the Blues get their deficit down to just one as the second period ended on Wednesday. St. Louis trails 3-2 with a period remaining, and have out-shot Colorado 28-21 thus far.
David Backes scored his 11th goal of the year off a feed from Carlo Colaiacovo to give the Blues their first goal of the night three minutes into the second period. Chris Stewart would tie the contest at 2-2 for the Blues when he beat Jean-Sebastian Giguere for his fifth score of the season. Stewart's goal was assisted by Patrik Berglund and David Perron.
The Avalanche hold a 23-22 edge in faceoffs, while the Blues are leading in hits 16-15.
