The St. Louis Blues host the San Jose Sharks this weekend as they hope to sustain the momentum they've established recently.

The St. Louis Blues have but one game this weekend, as they host the San Jose Sharks on Saturday, Dec. 10, before the Sharks travel to Chicago to play the Blackhawks the following night. The Blues have won consecutive games, and six of their past eight games, to push their 2011-2012 record to 16-9-3.

Defense has been the name of the game so far in St. Louis this season, as the Blues have allowed the second-least amount of goals among all NHL teams so far this season. They're in the bottom ten in the league in scoring, but have had fantastic goal prevention so far this season. The Blues, led by goalie Brian Elliott, have shut out four opponents this year.

San Jose has had an up and down season so far. The Sharks won 12 of 15 games at one point in the season, but have struggled of late. They've especially struggled with killing power plays so far this year, so that's an area that the Blues may want to exploit on Saturday. The game starts at 8:00 p.m. ET and is broadcasted on FOX Midwest.
