Blues Vs. Avalanche Game Postponed Due To Snow Storm

The St. Louis Blues have announced on their official website tonight’s game against the Colorado Avalanche has been postponed because of severe weather conditions. The NHL will announce a make-up date later. From Mike McCarthy, the Blues’ Vice Chairman and President:

“Due to the concerns and safety of our fans, players and staff, in conjunction with the NHL and the city of St. Louis, we have postponed tonight’s game.”

As SB Nation colleague Jordan Ruby noted earlier in this StoryStream, the National Weather Service’s forecast called for between 10 and 20 inches of snow to fall tonight in the Gateway City. Despite the forecast, the Blues’ match against the Avalanche was still a go earlier this afternoon, but the NHL thought better of it and postponed the game.

The Blues’ record stands at 22-20 with 51 points, last in the NHL’s Central Division. Colorado, at 25-19 with 56 points, ranks second in the Northwest. Five points separate the Blues from the San Jose Sharks, who currently own the West’s final playoff spot, so wins are of the utmost importance to them.
