The St. Louis Blues (40-18-7, 87 pts) got back to their winning ways Saturday night, handing the San Jose Sharks (33-23-7, 73 pts) a 3-1 loss.
The Blues started the game well. After LW T.J. Galiardi drew a high sticking penalty, Andy McDonald knocked a 9-foot power play slapshot past G Antti Niemi for 1-0 Blues lead. With under five minutes remaining in the period Torrey Mitchell and T.J. Oshie exchanged goals, putting the score at 2-1, Blues lead.
Two goals proved to be the magic number on the night, though, as the Sharks' offense went blank after the first period. Kevin Shattenkirk added another goal in the second period for a 3-1 score, and that was all she wrote as G Jaroslav Halak fended off the remaining shots on goal (18 in total) for a .947 save percentage and a 3-1 Blues win.

It's been nothing but nose to the grindstone for the Blues. Excellent goaltending and trying to keep the stamina level up has done wonders for the team, but it's getting obvious that they'd like a break.
