Red Wings At Blues: Scoreless First Period Showcases Better St. Louis Effort

Stay connected for news and updates

There’s a lot to like so far in tonight’s matchup against the Detroit Red Wings. Where there was uncertainty Saturday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets, there’s domination and constant pressure tonight. Ken Hitchcock’s massive practice (read: bag skate) that he put the team through apparently sunk in. They’re better on the puck, they’re more sure about creating turnovers, and they’re making the big hits where it counts.

Detroit leads in shots 13-11, but the Blues will have the advantage of beginning the second period with on a powerplay thanks to Niklas Kronwall holding penalty. If the Blues can keep up the good effort and the pressure, they might very well be leaving the second period with a goal or two.
