2011 World Series Game 2: The St. Louis Cardinals lose a nailbiter in the ninth inning as the Texas Rangers solve Jason Motte.

The St. Louis Cardinals took a 1-0 lead into the ninth inning of Game 2 of the World Series, but their bullpen magic ran out at the wrong moment: Two singles knocked Jason Motte from the game, and two sacrifice flies later the Texas Rangers had knotted the series at one going back to the Ballpark in Arlington for a three game set beginning Saturday.

The Cardinals got seven outstanding innings from Jaime Garcia, who struck out seven, and Allen Craig came through with another RBI single off Alexi Ogando to make it 1-0. But while Fernando Salas and Marc Rzepczynski were as excellent as ever in the eighth inning, Jason Motte's less-than-perfect command was all it took for the Rangers to mount a squib-filled rally in the ninth inning. Sacrifice flies from Josh Hamilton (against Arthur Rhodes) and Michael Young (against Lance Lynn) were all it took.

Matt Harrison will pitch for the Rangers Saturday in Game 3, while one of Kyle Lohse or Edwin Jackson is likely to go for the Cardinals, who haven't yet made their decision.
