The Cardinals will sport alternate jerseys in 2013, joining 26 other big league clubs in the revolution. The Cards' new duds bring elements of the past into the present.
The Cards' new jerseys are an homage to the team's past, featuring 1950s-style piping and the off-white color of the 1940s, 50s and 60s. St. Louis relief pitcher Trevor Rosenthal modeled the new digs in a photo that the team posted on Twitter shortly after the announcement:
In addition to the new jersey, the team will also make small adjustments to its current home and road uniforms, updating the quality of the logo and making the numbers on the front a bit smaller. They'll also wear red hats and blue belts on the road. The team still plans to incorporate the blue hat into its scheme somehow, although specifics aren't yet known.
