Tim McCarver probably inadvertently started a lot of family arguments Saturday afternoon, with his assertion, during FOX's St. Louis Cardinals vs. Milwaukee Brewers broadcast, that "climactic change"—read global warming—has made air thinner and caused more home runs, turning the entire world into Coors Field circa 2000. Finally: Something that global warming believers and deniers, steroid crusaders and eye-rollers, can disagree with together.
Here's video, with Joe Buck playing the role of Mike-Myers-gawking-at-Kanye-West—very smooth on his part to call it "your inconvenient truth," instead of having a panic attack and calling for the producers to mute McCarver's microphone—from Deadspin:
I'm sure Kyle Lohse appreciates the moral support, and this is probably the first time Aramis Ramirez has ever been brought up as evidence for climate change. But FOX is probably a little more worried about setting off sister network FOX News's liberal-media-bias Google Alert and causing Sean Hannity to prepare a monologue about the death of our formerly All-American pastime.
Meanwhile, despite suffering from an acute lack of oxygen, Lohse and the Cardinals beat the Brewers by a final score of 7-3.
