A 31-30 record has the St. Louis Cardinals in the middle of Comcast SportsNet Chicago's latest batch of power rankings.

The St. Louis Cardinals started 20-11, but inconsistent play and a few major injuries have dropped the Cards to third place in the N.L. Central with 31-30 overall heading into the start of a three-game series against the American League's Chicago White Sox on Tuesday. Not surprisingly, the near .500 record has the team in the middle of the latest batch of power rankings from Comcast SportsNet Chicago.

J.J. Stankevitz ranks St. Louis No. 14 this week, while Tony Andracki has the Cards at No. 16. As Stankevitz notes, the Cards might be a tad unlucky at the moment, given that the team has the best run differential in the National League.

Both Stankevitz and Andracki agree the Texas Rangers are the top team in the majors at the moment.
