Cardinals Minor League 1B Alan Ahmady Suspended 50 Games

Major League Baseball announced today St. Louis Cardinals minor league 1B Alan Ahmady will be suspended for 50 games without pay starting next season following a second violation for a drug of abuse.

Ahmady is currently on the roster of the Single-A Palm Beach Cardinals of the Florida State League. His first suspension came in 2010 when he was with the Batavia Muckdogs, a low-A Cardinals affiliate.

He was the Cardinals' 11th round pick out of Fresno State in 2009.
