Danny Amendola Injury: St. Louis Rams Move Receiver To IR, Season Over

The St. Louis Rams moved Danny Amendola to the injured reserve list Monday, ending weeks of speculation about whether the team's leading receiver from 2010 would be able to return soon or at all following a gruesome elbow dislocation suffered in the middle of Week 1's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Things looked grim immediately, but there was a brief period where it looked like Amendola, who wanted to return as soon as the next Monday, would be due back any week now—it was only when he began to practice that he reaggravated the injury, and now his season is officially over.

In his place the Rams have signed Nick Miller, most recently of the Oakland Raiders. Turf Show Times notes that Miller has punt and kick return experience, and while he's unlikely to blow the doors off a game any time soon the Rams have, at this point, lowered their expectations in that category to "Don't drop the ball."

Amendola was Sam Bradford's favorite target in 2010, catching 85 balls for 689 yards and three touchdowns, and returned 40 punts and 50 kicks without incident.
