Danny Amendola Injury: St. Louis Rams' Receiver Likely To Miss The Season

Danny Amendola's injury might end his season after the St. Louis Rams' 2010 reception leader aggravated it in prctice.

It looks like Danny Amendola's quixotic attempt to return to action after dislocating his elbow in gruesome fashion in the St. Louis Rams' opener has cost him his season—Adam Caplan reported on Twitter than Amendola will miss the season after aggravating the initial injury in last week's return to the practice field. Amendola, who led the Rams with 85 receptions in 2010, has proven irreplaceable given the team's meager resources at the position—Greg Salas, the rookie who replaced him in the slot, made some brutal drops in the early going, and has himself fallen out of the offense since.

With little else in the offing, the Rams will have to continue to give rookies like Salas, Lance Kendricks, and Austin Pettis chances to pick up the slack in the passing game, which has been—save for some incredible drives in the Rams' Monday Night Football loss to the New York Giants—seriously disappointing in the first year of the Josh McDaniels administration.

Amendola caught five balls for 45 yards in the season opener before leaving the game after he fell awkwardly on one arm.
