Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Week 9: Get Sam Bradford Now!

The Rams are not stocked with fantasy football talent, but there may still be few hidden gems waiting around on your waiver wire.

The St. Louis Rams (1-6), fresh off their stunning victory against the New Orleans Saints, may only have a single win in the 2011 NFL season, but they certainly have more fantasy stars than that. First, there's Steven Jackson -- owned in every league and starting in them too. There's also Brandon Lloyd, who's made phenomenal catches for seemingly a dozen NFL teams in his career already, endearing himself -- perhaps undeservedly -- to fantasy owners everywhere.

But here's what's crazy: Young QB Sam Bradford -- granted, though he's still injured -- is owned in only 29% of Yahoo! leagues. This is especially flabbergasting given his high potential. The fantasy projections from numberFire suggest Bradford -- if he plays this week -- would have no problem crossing the 10-point barrier:

There may be better gambles for a bye-week quarterback out there -- gambles better than the one you would be placing on his high-ankle sprain -- but as far as long-term options, it's hard to find a better high-upside candidate sitting on your waiver wire than the Bradford.

I wouldn't wait another week, though, because if Bradford does indeed play this week, he could very well torch the Cardinals secondary and end up on the national radar again.

Here's another steal you might not expect: Young WR Greg Salas. Almost guaranteed to be un-owned in your league, this slot receiver may be one of QB A.J. Feeley's favorite targets -- and as he gets to know the system more, he could easily become one of Bradford's too.

The numberFire projections system suggest that Salas may actually outplay Brandon Lloyd this week, though Salas is still not much more than a flex start for a needy owner. But then again, it would seem anyone can shine while playing against the putrid Arizona Cardinals, and if anyone's ready to shine, it looks like the Rams are.
