Greg Salas Injury Update: St. Louis Rams WR Out For Season

Stay connected for news and updates

When St. Louis Rams wide receiver Greg Salas was carted off the field during last Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals, things didn't look good. We now have some of the details, as Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo announced on Tuesday that the rookie would miss the remainder of the season.

Salas officially has a broken tibula, and the team expects to place him on the injured reserve within the next 24 hours. Here's what Spagnuolo told Nick Wagoner from the team's website:

Somebody fell on him. The guy who was tackling him got underneath. Similar, when I say similar I mean a freak thing; you know Danny’s (Amendola) way back, he puts his arm down to brace himself and his elbow goes out. I’m not so sure there was anything Greg could do about that. The guy tackled him and fell on his leg.

It's just one of those unfortunate, unpredictable injuries that happens sometimes given the nature of the sport. Salas, 23, finishes the year with 27 catches for 264 yards in 6 games. The wide receiver out of Hawaii never scored a touchdown. Salas was the Rams' fourth-round pick this year, drafted 112th overall.
