Kellen Clemens had a rough day throwing the football against the Pittsburgh Steelers defense and the Rams offense was not able to put together a scoring drive on Saturday despite a good effort from running back Steven Jackson, who ran for 103 yards.
Charlie Batch filled in for Ben Roethlisberger and played a solid, efficient game, doing enough to keep the offense moving and build a comfortable lead. Batch finished the day 15-22 for 208 yards.
The Rams hung around for a while, but the Steelers put them away with a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns, both of which came on the ground. Rashard Mendenhall made the score 20-0 with a one-yard run set up by a long pass play to Mike Wallace, and Isaac Redman capped the scoring with a two-yard run late in the fourth.

Shaun Suisham nailed his second field goal of the afternoon -- this one from 49 yards out -- and the Pittsburgh Steelers extended their lead to 13-0 over the visiting St. Louis Rams.
Rashard Mendenhall and Steven Jackson both have over 100 yards rushing through three quarters. Charlie Batch is 10-16 for 114 yards but has thrown an interception. Kellen Clemens is having a hard time finding any sort of rhythm and is just 8-20 for 79 yards.
As the quarter ended, the Rams had the ball in the red zone and were in position to potentially get back into the game.
The game's only touchdown came on a 10-yard run by Steelers RB John Clay, which was the first TD of his NFL career.

The Steelers started to really assert themselves on the ground in the second quarter after a comparatively sluggish opening quarter, and they extended their lead on St. Louis to 10 on a 10-yard run by John Clay, which can be seen below.
Clay runs right and has a pretty clear path to the end zone; a Rams defensive back appears to whiff on a potential touchdown-saving tackle. It was Clay's first carry of the 2011 season.
But Rashard Mendenhall did the bulk of the work on the ground for the Steelers; he has 97 yards on 10 carries, including a 52-yard scamper.
Steven Jackson had a solid half for St. Louis and finished with 57 yards on 13 carries and surpassed 1,000 yards rushing for the seventh consecutive season. Kellen Clemens struggled to get the passing game going and is just 6-17.

Both the St. Louis Rams and Pittsburgh Steelers are without their regular starting quarterbacks on Saturday and there hasn't been a whole lot of scoring through the first quarter. Pittsburgh put together a 10-play, 76 yard drive but stalled in the red zone and had to settle for a field goal and a 3-0 lead.
Charlie Batch has played pretty well in Ben Roethlisberger's place: the backup is 5-6 for 58 yards. Rams quarterback Kellen Clemens is off to a rough start after a solid performance last weekend: he's just 4-9 for 37 yards and St. Louis' offense has not surprisingly struggled to move the football on the Steelers defense.
Steven Jackson has 33 yards on eight carries.

The Pittsburgh Steelers (10-4) enter Saturday's game against the St. Louis Rams (2-12) with a hefty injury list:
- RB Mewelde Moore
- DB Curtis Brown
- C/G Maurkice Pouncey
- WR Emmanuel Sanders
- QB Ben Roethlisberger
- LB LaMarr Woodley
- LB Chris Carter
Friday morning, word got out that the Steelers were starting QB Charlie Batch in the place of injured QB Ben Roethlisberger. According to Steelers Digest -- and confirmed (via retweet) by the official Pittsburgh Steelers twitter account -- the Steel-town offense will be without the face of their franchise on Saturday's game against the St. Louis Rams. Ben Roethlisberger will miss Week 16 with an ankle injury, handing the starting duties to 12-year veteran Charlie Batch.
The 37-year-old Batch has started only two games in the last three seasons, starting a total of 52 contests in his time with the Detroit Lions and Steelers. Since 2003, Batch has started a total of six NFL games, but has played 30 different games since then, passing for 1386 yards with an 84.2 QB rating.
The Rams and Steelers kick off their Christmas Eve game at noon CST on Saturday.

According the latest injury update from the official Twitter account of the St. Louis Rams, it looks likely Kellen Clemens will get his second straight start when the Rams face the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 16:
QB A.J. Feeley
QB Sam Bradford
DB Josh Gordy
CB Justin King
The Rams, who have an astounding 16 players on the Injured Reserve (IR) list, seem likely to once again be without their top two quarterback, Bradford and Feeley, giving the once-highly-touted Clemens a second opportunity to shine with the Rams offense.
Right defensive end Chris Long also missed some practice this week, and though he returned on a limited basis on Thursday, he could also be limited in Saturday's game.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger missed practice for the second straight day on Thursday, and according to Steelers offensive coordinator Bruce Arians, Roethlisberger is going to be a game-day decision. Pittsburgh has clinched a playoff berth, but the team is still playing for seeding and a shot at a division title. But if Roethlisberger cannot go, Charlie Batch is expected to get to the nod against St. Louis.
Elsewhere on the injury report, running back Mewelde Moore, offensive lineman Maurkice Pouncey and defensive back Curtis Brown also were held out of practice on Thursday. Linebacker Chris Carter, wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders and linebacker LaMarr Woodley were limited.

The St. Louis Rams (2-12) expect to hobble into their Week 16 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers (10-4) as the Rams appear likely to once again be without their top two quarterbacks. According to their official Twitter account, the Rams were without QB Sam Bradford, QB A.J. Feeley and CB Justin King once again on Thursday's practice.
Head coach Steve Spagnuolo also mentioned that Bradford "would be considered doubtful" against the Steelers this Saturday, and as such will not know his status for certain until before gametime.
In Week 15 against the Cincinnati Bengals (8-6), the Rams started veteran QB Kellen Clemens -- who actually posted a respectable line, completing 25 of 36 attempts for 229 yards, 1 touchdown and no interceptions. If Bradford and Feeley are unable to play on Saturday, Clemens is expected to start again.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are facing the St. Louis Rams this weekend as they hope to bounce back from a disappointing performance on national television, but their bigger opponent in the short-term may be themselves. Injuries have been piling up amongst the Steelers' key players, with the most notable being star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger's high ankle sprain.
Reports say that the team doesn't expect Roethlisberger to start against St. Louis, so they may be forced to go with Charlie Batch as they try to build some momentum for the postseason. Pittsburgh's full injury report can be found here, but it's shown below:
- QB Ben Roethlisberger
- LB LaMarr Woodley
- RB Mewelde Moore
- DB Curtis Brown
- C Maurkice Pouncey
- WR Emmanuel Sanders
The big names to focus on here are Roethlisberger, Woodley and Pouncey. Roethlisberger isn't expected to play, but both Woodley and Pouncey are expected to be on the field against St. Louis. They'll likely play less than usual, though, as the team tries to get healthier for the playoffs.

The St. Louis Rams are facing the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend with their eyes on a monster upset, but they won't even be near full strength while doing so. Beating the Steelers is hard enough, but with Rams star quarterback Sam Bradford unable to practice so far this week and the game looming on Saturday, St. Louis should really have its hands full.
The Rams' full injury report for Wednesday practices can be found here, but it's shown below:
- QB Sam Bradford
- QB A.J. Feeley
- DE Chris Long
- DE James Hall
- S Craig Dahl
- OG Mark LeVoir
- DE Eugene Sims
- TE Stephen Spach
- DB Josh Gordy
- RB Quinn Porter
- DT Fred Robbins
The big names here are Bradford and the defensive ends, Long and Hall. Long has had a breakout season for St. Louis with 13 sacks in 14 games so far this season while Hall has contributed five sacks of his own this season on the heels of a double-digit total last season.

The St. Louis Rams are definitely going to have their hands full as they face the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday afternoon, but things may be a bit easier if star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger isn't active for Pittsburgh. According to Jason LaConfora of NFL Network, Steelers officials would be shocked if Roethlisberger was able to actually play against St. Louis this weekend.
LaConfora adds that those Pittsburgh officials expect Roethlisberger to rest for at least one week before gearing up for the postseason, although head coach Mike Tomlin hasn't officially announced his quarterback's status for Week 16. Roethlisberger is dealing with a high ankle sprain that he suffered during a Week 14 victory against the Cleveland Browns.
Roethlisberger managed to play last week against the San Francisco 49ers, but he looked noticeably limited in the game. Playing against one of the NFL's top defenses, he completed 25 of 44 passes for 330 yards but threw three interceptions and failed to led his offense to a touchdown.
