NFL Draft 2012: Rams Will Likely Target Defensive Tackle

The St. Louis Rams have needs all over the field, with most of the focus by draft prognosticators being along the offensive line, at wide receiver and at cornerback. But, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, a position that the Rams will seriously to target in this year's draft is defensive tackle.

As noted by Thomas, both starters from last year (Fred Robbins and Justin Bannan) are gone, and there's little to no youth or potential at the position for St. Louis at the moment. Thomas concludes that it's unlikely that the Rams will opt to address defensive tackle if they stay at No. 6 in the first round, as top tackles like Memphis' Dontari Poe and Mississippi State's Fletcher Cox would be a reach at that point.

But the defensive tackle class is deep this year, and at the top of the second round Thomas thinks it likely that the Rams will try and grab a player like Penn State's Devon Still or Michigan State's Jerel Worthy with either the No. 33 overall or No. 39 overall pick.
