Michael Brockers Injury: Rams DT Has High-Ankle Sprain

St. Louis Rams DT Michael Brockers has a high-ankle sprain, suffered in the first quarter of Thursday's preseason game against the Oakland Raiders. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Brockers could miss the first month of the season. An MRI on Friday confirmed the injury.

Brockers was cut-blocked in the first quarter by a Ravens lineman while chasing down a Baltimore running back, and said on Twitter after the game he was unable to drive his car home. His fiancee confirmed that Brockers was in pain after the game, with the DT wearing a walking boot after suffering the injury.

Brockers was the No. 14 overall pick in the 2012 draft and had been getting rave reviews throughout training camp and the preseason. The injury leaves a big hole along the defensive line for the Rams, as detailed by SBN's Rams blog Turf Show Times:

The LSU product had locked down a starting job next to Kendall Langford. Depth was already a real concern for the Rams, and it will be even more so with Brockers on the shelf. General manager Les Snead said that the team will be looking for help at the position as team make their final round of roster cuts on Friday.

Typically, teams elect to sit their starters in the final preseason game. Head coach Jeff Fisher felt that his starters needed more work to get ready for the season.
