The St. Louis Cardinals have announced that they'll exercise the 2011 option on Albert Pujols' existing contract, surprising nobody in the universe. Pujols, who led the National League in home runs, RBI, WAR, and vestigial g's per word pronounced, will make $16 million in this final year of a contract that was signed before the 2004 season.
Pujols, 30, has shunned contract negotiations in the past, but his return is considered priority number one in the Cardinals' 2010-2011 offseason.
