New, 1 comment

Cardinals left fielder and noted flashpoint of fan anger Matt Holliday was named NL Player of the Week for June 14-20 today, capping off six games in which he managed a slugging percentage of exactly 1.000, hit well with runners on base, and hit four home runs against the Oakland Athletics, his former team.

Over the whole week Holliday went 10-23 with four home runs and eight RBI, pushing his slugging percentage for the season near the .500 mark. This is the sixth time he's been named Player of the Week, and the first since April 7-13, 2008.
