Blues Draft Roundup

A lot of chatter following the Blues' whirlwind first round last night. Here's some choice talk:

On SB Nation St. Louis we have video of John Davidson discussing the Blues' first round. Choice quote:

We love the two guys who we have—the depth in our organization shows that we needed to fill another area, and we used that; that was the idea... David Rundblad is a great prospect... but we got two forwards that we needed, because we're already... there's not enough power play time.

At St. Louis Game Time they seem pretty pleased that the Blues went off the reservation:

this was unexpected...

Defying the "conventional wisdom" at every opportunity, Jarmo Kekalainen is making his last draft at the helm of the Blues' scouting department a memorable one. First, the Finnish mastermind goes way off of everyone's draft board to select a small-but-crafty Tier One scoring whiz, and not content with that, pulls another shocker a mere two picks later by taking advantage of a stunning trade to select the first-ever Russian chosen by the Blues in the first round.

SB Nation St. Louis and Game Time will continue to follow the Blues' draft as news breaks.
