St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) – Randy Wolf allowed just one run in 6 1/3 solid innings, and the Milwaukee Brewers used a trio of home runs to down the St. Louis Cardinals, 4-1, in the opener of a four-game set at Busch Stadium.
Wolf (6-7) gave up just four hits and a walk while fanning four to earn the win for the Brewers, who have won eight of their last 11 games. George Kottaras drilled a two-run homer, while Prince Fielder and Casey McGehee each had a solo shot in the victory.
John Axford locked down his ninth save of the season.
Albert Pujols’ homer provided the lone offense for the Cardinals, who have lost two in a row. Blake Hawksworth (2-5), making his third career start, gave up three runs in six innings on six hits and a walk while fanning seven.
