Chris Carpenter Cleared To Make Saturday Start

The Cardinals' official website is reporting that Chris Carpenter has been cleared to make his scheduled start Saturday, against the Milwaukee Brewers. Carpenter took a line drive off his forearm in his last start, but a bullpen session on Wednesday proved that the swelling would be no impediment to his pitching. Carpenter confirmed it himself during Fox Sports Midwest's pregame show, interrupting Jim Hayes's appearance to say that the swelling was, by now, just a "bruise."

Carpenter, 9-1, has yet to miss a start this year after making 28 in his 2009 return from arm problems.
