Jaime Garcia's Missing Slider

At Viva El Birdos PitchF/X wizard Joker24 has taken a "half-assed look" at Jaime Garcia's pitch selection since his disastrous June start against the Royals and found something interesting in the process.

Apparently, since then he's thrown the slider less and the two breaking pitches to either side of it—his cutter and his curveball—more often. This makes intuitive sense to me; the cutter is a Duncan-approved pitch, using it with his curveball involves more changes of speed, and both pitches are better on his arm as he approaches his career high in innings than the slider.

So long as he has continued success, I'm all for it.
