Do The Blues Need Veteran Leadership?

That's the question posed by St. Louis Game Time as their roster takes shape for 2010-11.

After 200 votes counted the blog's commentariat has gone 52% in favor of "If he's the right fit for the team, sure - if he's not going to add anything on-ice, then pass." Which strikes me as the right way to go, in hockey or any other sport—as Ken Griffey, Jr., proved in his last go-round as a Mariner, if a player isn't performing at game-time he's only got so much influence over his younger teammates on off-days.

Veterans have experience to spare, but they have to earn the respect of the young guys every year; that's the difference between giving off Veteran Leadership rays as a player and doing it as a coach.
