Kyle Lohse, The Cardinals DL Derby's Surprise Winner

Many years ago, when this website was but a gleam in SB Nation's eye and Kyle Lohse was progressing nicely from motocross surgery, it seemed readily apparent to all that Brad Penny would be first back in the Cardinals rotation. His injury came hitting a grand slam, and the Cardinals said he'd only take the 15 days he'd be on the DL to come back.

I don't know how it happened, only a year after the Troy Glaus era, but we were naive. Brad Penny was recently diagnosed with Troy Glaus's Disease and is coming back sometime-maybe from his strained-something injury.

And now Kyle Lohse, our favorite punchline, is due back to rescue the rotation from Jeff Suppan. How'll he do? You have some disparate rehab starts with which to decide, but at least his best one came most recently.

And at least he's not Jeff Suppan!
