Jason Motte Set To Rehab, Save Cardinals From Themselves

New, 1 comment

Jason Motte is still third on the St. Louis Cardinals in relief appearances, despite having missed the better part of a month with what the team has very tactfully called a "shoulder sprain"; if anything can explain why his imminent rehab stint is vitally important to the Cardinals, it's that.

But I'll try again. In August only Kyle McClellan and Fernando Salas (who is currently not on the active roster) have made more than one relief appearance and maintained an ERA under 4.00. Only Kyle McClellan, Fernando Salas, and Aaron Miles have made any relief appearances and maintained an ERA under 4.00. Closer Ryan Franklin (seven appearances) has an ERA of 5.40; fellow flame throwing youngster Mitchell Boggs (seven appearances) has an ERA of 6.00; reclamation project Mike MacDougal (six appearances) has an ERA of 6.75.

Get well soon, Jason Motte. Very, very soon.
