Sam Bradford To Start Season Opener, Steve Spagnuolo To Start Club For People Who Can't Hide Things Well

Dear Sam Bradford-watching St. Louis Rams fans,

I ask you to divine the subtext from this Steve Spagnuolo quote, taken from the incredibly patient Jim Thomas's article about Bradford and his immediate future:

"I know you guys keep pushing for an answer here, I'm just not ready to make it," the Rams coach said Friday. "We're going to take all of training camp to do it. There's a fourth preseason game. Love to see (Bradford) do exactly what he did last night."

The thing Spagnuolo doesn't yet realize is that to earn the media's legitimate uncertainty—Thomas actually writes "wink, wink" in this one—you have to have 14 years of craziness at your back, like Tony La Russa does. La Russa says he might start Aaron Miles in game one of the NLDS next year? Nobody's going to be quite sure until they see him taking infield the day of the game—and even then it might be in doubt.

Spags has a few years before he's successfully able to mess with our heads. Here's hoping he gets the chance.
