The Post-Dispatch has a nice reminder of a story about former Rams guru Mike Martz as he prepares to confound a new set of news outlets as he begins his role as offensive coordinator of the Chicago Bears and chief sideshow of the Chicago Bears' training camp.
↵The thing about Mike Martz is that it's impossible to ever hold one opinion about the man. Even when his team has just put the finishing touches on a 50-point Arena Football-style thrashing he's just a few minutes away from alienating fans with evasive answers to easy questions; even when he's alienating fans with evasive answers to really pressing questions there's the sense that the Rams (or Lions, or Niners, or Bears) offense has become an absurdly complex instrument that only he can play.
↵Honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way. But he's an acquired taste, and I'll be interested to see just how the Bears do when it comes to acquiring it.
