Tony La Russa Sounds Vaguely Committed To 2011

I think a lot of people will respond to this in a lot of different ways, but as filtered through Joe Strauss's Sunday piece on the subject it sounds like Tony La Russa is about 60/40 in favor of coming back for another season as manager of the St. Louis Cardinals.

La Russa said Friday his attitude about managing this team is unchanged from a year ago. He did not dispute a suggestion that barring dissatisfied ownership or a player coup he is likely to commit through at least 2011.

La Russa hasn't earned himself any brownie points with his strange decisions this year—he's briefly alienated Colby Rasmus and forced Aaron Miles into a lineup that doesn't fit his, ah, skillset, among other things. But I remain in favor of the Hall of Fame managerial devil I know, compared to all the devils I don't.
