I am of the firm opinion that Major League Baseball needs to select a day, or else the first X of April, and try its damnedest to make Opening Day into a faux-national holiday, but they refuse to listen. Their latest attempt to confuse casual baseball fans ever was released today, when the St. Louis Cardinals' 2011 schedule was released. The Cardinals will open play at Busch Stadium on March 31, against the San Diego Padres. That's almost a week earlier than last year, in an attempt to keep October Baseball in October.↵
Of course I'm in favor of keeping the baseball season from luxuriating its way toward Thanksgiving, but something about March baseball in the Midwest doesn't make me think of green, idyllic springs and summers. Here's hoping for clear skies and T-shirt weather.
