Arizona Cardinals Preview: The Matt Leinart Thing

Nobody who watched the Kurt Warner/Eli Manning situation unfold in New York could have quite expected the situation in Arizona to play out like it did; Matt Leinart was arriving in a lower-stress situation with an even older Kurt Warner and more positive media coverage than Eli Manning had ever gotten, pre-Super Bowl.

But that's how it happened: Warner came out of nowhere one last time and nearly won another MVP, and now that he's gone ballroom dancing—yet another thing Matt Leinart was once better at—Leinart finds himself without a job in the NFL. Just in time for the Cardinals to come meet the Rams' golden boy quarterback, Sam Bradford, as he makes his regular season debut.

Our cousins at SB Nation Arizona have been following this story from the beginning. To be honest, I'd be pissed if I were Matt Leinart, too; he's yet to prove any great shakes at quarterback, but any team that finds the prospect of Derek Anderson and his career completion percentage of 52.9 more enticing than giving Leinart a fresh shot has more serious problems than its half-busted, ballroom dancing matinee idol.

Meanwhile, Craig Morgan suggests Leinart go the Anna Kournikova route; considering I hadn't heard Anna Kournikova's name in four years until this old chestnut of an article popped up on my feed reader I can't possibly recommend that.
