If I may briefly recap yesterday's Cardinals-related news, before it's covered more fully on Viva El Birdos:
↵- ↵
- Colby Rasmus doesn't like Tony La Russa. He's asked for a trade two years running. ↵
- Tony La Russa doesn't particularly care for Colby Rasmus; in any case, he's fonder of Jon Jay, who is more in fitting with La Russa's aesthetic. ↵
- Albert Pujols thinks that if Colby Rasmus doesn't like playing for the Cardinals, well, maybe he should play someplace else. ↵
- Cardinals fans hate it when Mom and Dad fight like this. ↵
Leaving aside—only for a moment—Albert Pujols's apparent lack of knowledgeability re: marginal wins, it seems like the moral of these intertwining stories is as much teams should stay in each other's good graces by winning more often as it is teams who aren't in each other's good graces win less often. One or both of Rasmus and La Russa might be in need of an imminent change of scenery, but the only immediate mollifier would be to not continue to fall further out of both National League playoff races.
↵It's that easy!
