David Backes Looks Favorable To Start Wednesday

The Blues aren’t used to getting positive injury news, but they got some today. David Backes, who was absolutely leveled by Chris Pronger in the Blues’ 4-2 win in Philadelphia, will be probable to start Wednesday night against the Vancouver Canucks. It was speculated that he might’ve had a possible concussion, though not from the hit, which Backes described as “shoulder to shoulder.” Some thought it possible that Backes’ head made contact with the ice when he fell from the hit, but Backes practiced today and seemed good to go.

Pronger, unfortunately, was injured by a high stick to the face in tonight’s Leafs/Flyers game, and did not return. It appeared to be an eye injury. Hopefully the diagnosis will be a good one for the former Blues captain.
