Week 8 NFL Picks: Brees, Saints Ready To Invade Edward Jones Dome

We look at this week's slate of games in the National Football League.

Indianapolis Colts at Tennessee Titans: Chris Johnson has just 268 yards and one touchdown in the first six games. The Colts are likely just trying to remain the driver's seat for Andrew Luck. Pick: Titans

New Orleans Saints at St. Louis Rams: Drew Brees piled up 325 yards in the *third quarter* before being pulled in last week's blowout win over the Colts. Expect big things again from Brees against the winless Rams. Pick: Saints

Miami Dolphins at New York Giants: Miami almost had its first win of 2011 against Denver last week. I'm thinking they'll have to wait at least one more week. Pick: Giants.

Minnesota Vikings at Carolina Panthers: Christian Ponder and Cam Newton square off in a battle of two rookie quarterbacks drafted in the first round. It's far too soon to predict Ponder's NFL future, but Newton already looks like a franchise QB. Pick: Panthers

Arizona Cardinals at Baltimore Ravens: The Ravens are still blushing from their embarrassing Monday night performance against Jacksonville. Nothing like a little home cooking to right the ship. Pick: Ravens

Jacksonville Jaguars at Houston Texans: Adrian Foster delighted fantasy owners last week who finally saw an investment on the top three draft pick they surely used on the Houston running back. This week is all about Andre Johnson for the Texans. The dynamic receiver is expected to return from injury. Pick: Texans

Washington Redskins at Buffalo Bills: Buffalo has a "home game" in Toronto this week. They're 0-3 all-time when playing in Canada, but this year's Bills are a different animal. Pick: Bills

Detroit Lions at Denver Broncos: As America lives and dies with every Tim Tebow overthrow, the Lions' explosive offense should be licking their chops. We can just pencil in Calvin Johnson for two touchdowns a week at this point, right? Pick: Lions

New England Patriots at Pittsburgh Steelers: Game of the week? Game of the week. The Steelers are a home underdog, and for good reason. Bill Belichick coming off a bye week is terrifying. Pick: Patriots

Cleveland Browns at San Francisco 49ers: San Francisco is the NFL's biggest surprise, and if the Niners want to keep the good times rollin', they won't slip up against the inferior Browns. Pick: 49ers

Cincinnati Bengals at Seattle Seahawks: Charlie Whitehurst is expected to get the start as Tarvaris Jackson is still recovering from a pectoral injury. Jackson is supposed to be a game-time decision, but for some reason I don't expect it to be one fantasy owners are fretting over. Pick: Bengals

Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles (-3.5) - The Eagles have struggled to live up to the immense hype this season, but Mike Vick and co. have a long history of shining in prime time. Expect a few highlight plays and a lot of offense in this one. Pick: Eagles

San Diego Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs: San Diego is a fairly unimpressive 4-2, but the notoriously slow starting Chargers are likely happy enough with the wins. While San Diego still seems to be stuck in neutral, a trip to Arrowhead could be just what they need to get back into rhythm. Pick: Chargers
