2012 NFL Mock Draft: Indianapolis Colts Win, Create St. Louis Rams-Andrew Luck Alternate Universe

The ostensibly hapless 2011 Indianapolis Colts—the team that has single-handedly made Peyton Manning's Hall of Fame case and, for much of the season, has represented the impenetrable barrier between the rest of the NFL and 2012 NFL Mock Draft golden god Andrew Luck—won again yesterday, behind some Tebovian heroics from one Dan Orlovsky. They're still the Luck favorites, but the St. Louis Rams have officially been pulled back into that most fraught brand of sucking—the sucking for Luck.

A refresher: The St. Louis Rams simply can't give up on Sam Bradford yet. This isn't a Jimmy Clausen case, where a highly touted "pro-ready" prospect reveals that being able to play in a pro offense in college is no substitute for physical talent—this is an outstanding, if not quite Luck-ian, prospect who's been sunk by the lack of talent around him.

So if the Rams do end up with Luck, still an unlikely scenario, the obvious move would be to trade that pick for talent to put around Sam Bradford—draft picks, draft picks, and more draft picks. And hopefully, by April, a new management team in place to make those draft picks.
