The Blues’ve had some extremely strong draft picks in recent years, as evidenced by the fact that they seem to keep getting chosen to captain Team Canada in the World Juniors Championship tournament. Alex Pieterangelo was also selected to captain it in 2008, and Schwartz was widely expected to be named the captain this time around. He suffered double disappointment last year, as he broke his ankle in the second game and had to sit out as Canada lost the gold medal to Russia.

Schwartz was selected 14th overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the Blues, and has been a highly touted prospect for the organization. Blues fans can get a glimpse at the sniper at 2:30 Central Time today on NHL Network, as Canada takes on Finland.
