In an interview with the Daily Herald, NHL pugilist Daniel Carcillo of the Chicago Blackhawks attempted to call out Blues captain David Backes for scrapping with Blackhawks Captain Jonathan Toews:
↵↵↵“Look at the guys he’s fought in this league. He’s a big guy and he’s tough, but he hasn’t really answered the bell with any really tough guys. He goes after guys like (Corey) Perry, and he tries to fight Jonathan Toews. You just can’t let that happen.â€
↵
This is comical, considering when you look at their fight cards from HockeyFights.com, there’re some commonalities between Backes’ and Carcillo’s. Backes’ fought some pretty big guys, including Columbus Blue Jackets captain Rick Nash. He and Toews’ scrum on Saturday was just as much Toews as it was Backes.
↵Frankly, maybe Carcillo’s just jealous that Backes can stand and fight instead of turtling. Also, he’s never felt the need to go after another teams’ goalie. Carcillo fancies himself the Blackhawks’ enforcer, but he’s their agitator, just like he was on the Flyers. Silly decisions’ll find him in the pressbox in Chicago just like he was in Philadelphia
