St. Louis Cardinals Bounce Back, Beat Colorado Rockies 4-3 In Weekend Finale

The St. Louis Cardinals recovered from Jaime Garcia's brutal loss on Saturday to win their weekend series with the Colorado Rockies, relying on home runs from Jon Jay and Colby Rasmus and yet another strong start from Kyle Lohse to win the finale by a score of 4-3. Lohse won his seventh game of the season and Fernando Salas picked up his ninth save in the victory, which pushes the Cardinals to 32-22 as May draws to a close.

Ty Wigginton, Chris Ianetta, and Todd Helton doubled for the Rockies, who fall to 25-27 on the season after a start from Jhoulys Chacin that was marred only by those two home runs.

After struggling for playing time in April Jon Jay has emerged as one of the Cardinals' hottest hitters in May, with Matt Holliday's absence; his home run pushes his season line to .346/.409/.510, with those four home runs as many as he hit across nearly three times as many at-bats in 2010.

The Cardinals' schedule takes them back home on Monday, when they'll play the San Francisco Giants in the first of a four-game set.
